ABSTRACT GUIDELINES
TITLE
a. Maximum 135 characters or 25 words, including spaces
b. Do not include abbreviations
c. Title may include country names or the title of a program or group, but must not include names of
individual institutions, authors, or any trade name
AUTHORS
a. Maximum 10 authors
i. Only list individuals who have contributed substantially to the work through study conception
and design, data collection, analysis or interpretation, writing, critical revision, or final approval
of the written work
ii. Do not include names as guest authors, ghost authors, or gift authors
iii. All authors must take responsibility for the accuracy and validity of the work
b. List names and degrees of all authors written exactly as they should be published and in desired order
i. Authors may include one first (ie, given) name, up to two middle names (optional), and one last name
(ie, surname, family name)
ii. Only academic degrees may be included following each name; do not include professional organization
memberships, institutional titles, or academic awards
c. Use a semicolon (;) to separate names
d. The first author listed is assumed to be the presenting author unless otherwise noted
AFFILIATIONS
a. List the organization with which any author was primarily affiliated during the time that the work was
being completed, including department and institution, city, and country
b. Authors may list no more than three affiliations
c. Number each institution in order following the author listing above, and indicate the matching author
using superscript numbers following the respective author’s name
ABSTRACT TEXT:
a. Maximum 250 words (not including title and references)
b. Organize abstract into four titled sections:
i. Background and Objective: Briefly provide context for the submitted work establishing its importance
in relationship to a current problem or gap in knowledge, and clearly state the objective
in conducting the project
ii. Methods: Summarize the research methods and materials used in the project, including study design,
data collection, and analysis
iii. Results: Concisely describe the findings of the project without interpretation or discussion
iv. Conclusion: Provide the primary takeaway conclusion that can be reasonably drawn from the results,
as well as its potential for impact on the medical community and/or practice
c. Do not include tables, figures, images, or supplementary content
d. Cite references using consecutive numbering in superscript

a. State any potential conflict of interest present for each author listed
b. If none, provide a statement to this effect
